Chapter 4 - Summary
After the third chapter comes the fourth which is also part of science fiction Novel “Never Let Me Go” from 2005 by Kazuo Ishiguro. It informs the reader about the Sales and the beginning of the friendship between Ruth and Kathy.
Frist in the token controversy in Junior 4 Roy, a student from the year above, asks the very austere reserved Miss Emily, if they could get tokens for their art, which get taken to the Gallery. In the end the guardians agreed that the students would get some tokens but not so much because the fact that their art piece goes to the Gallery is the most distinguished honour. Normally the assembly every morning is very short but if Miss Emily has to talk it takes round about 20 to 30 minutes. In contrast to her lessons where she is very precise, her speeches are hard to understand. The Sales which are every month, are an exciting event for junior students but usually they only buy things replace old ore broken stuff. Then the Kathy tells about the beginning of her friendship with Ruth, where Ruth allows her to play with her invisible horses. She is very determinative. From then on they ‘protect’ Miss Geradline, because Ruth says someone wants to harm her and she needs their protection.
All in all it let you understand the world from Kathy a bit more by giving background details.
